HOW IT WORKS

From API key to Cosmos data in four steps.

Run a sample below without a key.

  1. 01

    Get your API key

Create a free account and copy your key. You start with 100 free credits; no card needed.

  2. 02

    Choose an endpoint

Pick one of the 7 Cosmos endpoints and add its input, such as a public handle.

  3. 03

    Send one request

Call it with your key in the x-api-key header. ScrapeAtlas reads the public Cosmos data and retries when a read fails.

  4. 04

    Use the JSON

Get structured JSON with a coverage status. Only successful requests use a credit.

LIVE RESULTS

Try a sample request.

Try the Cosmos API right here. This sample uses the Get a Cosmos profile endpoint and returns live JSON. No API key needed.

  1. 01
    Choose a sample value

Start with design, or change the handle field to your own value.

  2. 02
    Select Run sample

Execute the sample code and see the response in the JSON response tab.

Cosmos API and scraping

What public data can I retrieve with the Cosmos API?

Retrieve public profiles, saved elements and collections as structured JSON. Open an individual element or collection URL, browse a curator’s saved references, and search by keyword. Media details, source links and attribution help your application keep each reference connected to its original context.

Which fields does a public Cosmos profile return?

Use Profile with a Cosmos username to retrieve the public name, bio, avatar, linked website and social accounts, follower and following counts, and saved-element count. These fields support a curator profile card with a link back to the original Cosmos profile.

How do I scrape a curator’s saved Cosmos elements?

Send the curator’s username to User Elements to retrieve their saved references with captions, media and source attribution. Choose a page size and continue with the returned cursor. Use User Collections to list their collections, then open a selected collection to retrieve its details and saved elements.

Cosmos: elements, collections and visual search

Can I retrieve Cosmos element media and source attribution?

Pass an element URL to Element Details to retrieve its caption, media, source link, source author and save count. Media records include their type, dimensions and published playback or thumbnail links, letting a reference card show the visual alongside its attribution.

Can the Cosmos search API find visual references by keyword?

Use Search Elements with a query to retrieve matching elements with captions, media and source attribution. Choose a page size and pass the returned cursor with the same query to continue your research feed. Open an element URL with Element Details when your application needs its individual record.

Can I retrieve Cosmos collections and their saved elements?

Yes. Pass a collection URL to Collection Details to retrieve its name, description, cover image, owner, element count and subcollections. Collection Elements retrieves the references saved inside it with their media and source information. API paths use cluster for the collection object.

API access and integration

How do I get a ScrapeAtlas API key and authenticate requests?

Create a ScrapeAtlas account and generate an API key in the dashboard. Send the key in the x-api-key request header when calling https://api.scrapeatlas.com. The API playground lets you enter an endpoint’s parameters and inspect its JSON response.

Can I call the scraping API from Python, JavaScript or the CLI?

Yes. Send authenticated HTTP requests from Python, JavaScript or another language that supports HTTP. The endpoint reference includes request examples and response fields. Use the ScrapeAtlas CLI for terminal workflows and pass the returned pagination values when requesting additional result pages.

Can I connect an AI assistant to the ScrapeAtlas MCP server?

Yes. Connect an MCP-compatible assistant to the ScrapeAtlas MCP server to discover and call the public platform tools with your ScrapeAtlas account. The agent reference also gives coding assistants a readable guide to the endpoints and their request schemas.
